The black pieces are made from genuine ebony polished to an obsidian black finish while the white pieces are made from the highest quality boxwood and polished to a fine luster. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to create a cohesive collection of pieces from king to pawn. The columns have a graceful profile that curve out beyond the layered collars creating a unique and elegant appearance. The knights are truly spectacular with a mane that gracefully flows down the back of the neck in every direction. The king is 4.4 tall with a 1.9 base and has as traditional cross formée finial. The pieces are heavily weighted and have green baize pads for a soft feel on the chess board.
